Le ciel obscur, la solitude qui nous donne la peine; La cœur qui brise, à cause qu’il a vécu seul; L’amour est parti, il y a longtemps que je t’ai vu; C’est trop long, C’est incroyable que je puisse vivre comme ça…

The reason for choosing University Laval

I modified this boring study plan in two days. Sigh… In comparison with English, my French need to be further improved. I decide to do french exercises on the shuttle bus of Sony from tomorrow morning. Seriously, survival French, I’m really worried about it…(-_o)

Dear VISA Officer, with the rapid development of digital design industry in China these years, the artistic concept and presenting skills I acquired in this field are somewhat inferior and need to be advanced. Therefore, after 8 years’ work, I feel a strong motivation to further my study abroad. Since I have language certificates on IELTS 6.0 (English) and TCF B2 (French), I considered to study in Canada or France in 2009. In October 2008, I started preparing my first application in order to attend CampusArt (http://www.campusart.org), a network of French institutions offering university level programs within the field of art, led by CampusFrance. However, from March to April 2009, to my surprise, I had been admitted by four schools from both countries. On March 11, I received the first official offer by email from University Laval. Before April 10, I received the offer emails from two public schools in France, Ecole Supérieure des Beaux Arts d’Angers and Université de Marne-La-Vallée. At the end of April, I received the last offer from Sheridan College. Which country and which program? A choice is really difficult as I am at the very important and decisive crossroads in my life. Although the public education in France need not to pay tuition fee, after consulting with the director of CampusArt – Mr. XXXX, I found the Master programs offered by two schools are based on the field of contemporary art, that’s not my interest of study. Furthermore, I have to give up the opportunity from Sheridan just because their program only offers postgraduate diploma. In comparison with Sheridan, apparently, University Laval is much competitive. It is a major Québec and Canadian university, as the first institution in North America to offer higher education in French, its credentials are recognized worldwide. Their exciting research environment and the quality of its teaching is very attractive for me. Actually, after I had contacted their program director for the admission requirements by email in 2007, I carefully studied the website of faculty and found the course description of Multimedia program is in accordance with my working background, which is focused on multimedia and information design. That’s all I care about. In addition, the most important factor which makes me decide to choose their program is my future tutor, professor XXXX. He represents a new generation of information design researchers with a decade of practical experience behind him, and his research agenda of information design attracts to me as well. I’m sure that we have the same passion and common interests in this academic field. Definitely, it drives me to pursue my dream and to fulfill my study task of Master program in University Laval.
